What went well?

The progress I made; what was achieved and done

  1. Team presentation 1 (presented on cultural fluency with my group). Although I was not able to present in person due to illnesses, one of the groupmates took over my part smoothly. Thanks, Camellia.

  2. Understood more on the psychological and mental health-related issues in Fiji. This provided solid background information for the designation of the tool kit.

  3. Understood the role of family and community in Fiji (shared lots of similarities with Chinese) + cooking session (a pity that I could not taste the dish in person, but it was an eye-opening experience to see different ways of cooking)

What could have been done differently?

Things that did not get done and/or could be changed

  1. There was some disputes when our group was preparing for the presentation. I could have be more accepting to opinions from the groupmates.

What did I learn about myself when working with others?

Contributions, behaviours and values I exhibited

  1. I am afraid of getting negative feedbacks from the fellow groupmates.

What did I learn about leadership?

Leadership attributes and insights I developed

  1. Understood that receiving feedbacks is a critical step of learning. Even leaders have to be welcoming to feedbacks.

What do I want to develop or focus on next?

What I still need to develop

  1. Don’t take negative feedbacks personally. But rather think of possible reasons for the disputes. For example, if the disputes come from misunderstandings, then think of ways to improve communications.
