Joshua Zhou

Joshua Zhou, Global President

Hi, my name is Joshua Zhou. I am the global president of Laidlaw Alumni Society this year. It was a privilege to join UCL Laidlaw Scholarship Program three years ago. Amazed by the culture Laidlaw Foundation is promoting, I keep getting involved with the Alumni Society and was honoured to be selected as the Europe Vice President for Laidlaw Alumni Society.

This year, I am eager to deliver meaningful and engaging events for our alumni. I hope I could contribute to the establishment of a global vibrant society where great minds meet each other.

Radhika Patel, North American Vice President

Hi, my name is Radhika Patel! I am originally from Long Island, New York. I graduated from Columbia University in May 2022 where I was on the premedical track, majoring in Medical Humanities with a Special Concentration in Business Management. I am currently serving as a Clinical Research Coordinator at the Recanati/Miller Transplantation Institute at Mount Sinai, while volunteering as an EMT for the Central Park Medical Unit. I hope to matriculate to medical school in the near future.

Radhika Patel

I was selected to be part of the 2019 cohort of scholars through the Laidlaw Undergraduate Research and Leadership Scholars Program at Columbia University. I did research on the role of the basolateral amygdala in cue-induced eating as part of the Salzman Lab at Columbia University’s Mortimer B. Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute. I also served as National Student Leader for the International Collaboration and Exchange Program where I did research on cultural competency preparedness and the importance of culture amongst medical and health professions students. Therefore, the Laidlaw Foundation has provided me with incredible opportunities that have supported my professional and personal growth. I am excited to help grow the foundation’s global presence as the North American Vice President for the Laidlaw Alumni Society.

Riza Mirza

Riza Mirza, Global Marketing and Communications Lead

Hello! My name is Riza Mirza, and I am the Global Marketing and Communications Lead for the Laidlaw Alumni Society! I am a second year Laidlaw scholar at UCL studying History, Politics and Economics. Laidlaw has been a pivotal experience in my life - it opened my eyes to interdisciplinary research, allowed me to interact with generous and curious individuals, and led me to discover who I am as an individual and as a leader. I love being a part of this community, and would love to give back to the community in any capacity possible :)

Stay tuned for more updates about the Laidlaw Alumni Society, and make sure to reach out to Joshua if you would like to get involved! Check out the Alumni room to view all their past events.
