Got research questions for our network of academics?

Hi there! 📣 Calling all scholars starting research OR experienced alumni who have finished your projects already. We're looking to create some useful resources for new scholars by tapping into our global network of leading academics. We want to know what information on the research process YOU think would be useful for us to ask our supervisors. What is difficult or surprising: literature reviews? Gaining ethical clearance? Making a poster? New scholars who joined this year: What is the biggest question you have about your upcoming research? Second-year scholars and alumni: What is the number one thing you wish you knew before starting your research? Comment your response and we'll launch new initiatives soon consulting our academics. Thanks :)

Six Feet Apart Podcast

University of Toronto Laidlaw Scholars discuss COVID-19's impact on Black Lives Matter, Education, Essential Workers, and other aspects of society.Although we may be in isolation, our world is developing at a faster pace than ever before. This is the perfect time for students to sit down and reflect on how various parts of their lives and the lives of others are changing throughout quarantine. On Six Feet Apart, we do just that. Join Joelle Weir, Ahmed Khaldoon, Cassandra Minot, and myself as we analyze a different topic and talk to students, experts, and individuals with unique lived experiences every other week. You can listen to our podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Soundcloud. Episode 1: Do Black Lives Matter During a Pandemic? In this episode, we talk to BLM activists from Kenya, Australia, and the United States to understand how protests have unfolded internationally and how the unequal impact of COVID-19 on racial minorities highlights the need for change. Episode 2: (Dis)Connected: Education During Covid-19 (Parts 1 & 2) In this two-part episode, we first explore the impact of COVID-19 on K-12 schools through the eyes of teachers and administrators. We switch gears to higher education in the second part and get a chance to hear from Dawn Geronimo Terkla, an Associate Provost of Tufts University.Episode 3: Essential Now & Essential Always In our most recent episode, we compare the experiences of essential workers through interviews with food service employees and a front-line healthcare worker. Further, we discuss Canada's call to action for asylum seekers and immigrants to work on the front-lines and contemplate these workers' unequal treatment. We've really enjoyed creating this podcast and it would mean a lot to us if you all checked it out!
