1. Visit to Casa Ronald McDonald

  • Family is the best medicine: Some children have to travel a long way from home. They have to leave their family. Being able to stay and live with their own family could heal both the children and their families.
  • Importance of volunteers: The service provided by the volunteers is very important to the organization, including marketing, administration, teaching, cooking, room services, etc. It is vital to keep up olunteers' engagement and involvement.

2. Design of belonging

  • explore the expectations and profiles of the volunteers
  • create memories with the volunteers

3. Volunteers management

  • lack of availability of the volunteers: Some of our volunteers do not based in Lima, some could not attend the meeting in our designated time (Thursday afternoon). Therefore, to connect with all the volunteers, flexibility is needed to hold both face-to-face and virtual meetings at the other time while maintaining our work-life boundaries.
  • learn from volunteers: Some of our volunteers have amazing skill sets in social media and content creation. It is important to know the talents and abilities of different volunteers so that we can maximise our efficacy and performance.
  • setting up contingency plan: We need to understand that unexpectancy may arise, especially with a compartively large group of volunteers, so we should always have back-up plans so that we will not be too anxious or directionless when our original plan could not be accomplished.

4. Saphi Quechua class

  • learnt the alphabets, numbers, and self-introduction phrases in Quechua
  • interviewed the Quechua teacher on the difference and similarities between English and Quechua, as well as his advice for people who want to start learning Quechua
  • interviewed a scholar on her thoughts after her first Quechua lesson
  • met with Saphi's founder to talk about the improvements that the Quechua lesson could be made for better delivery to English-speaking Quechua beginners

5. Visit to Huaca Pucllana

  • Visited with two volunteers. We knew more about each other during the site visit.
  • Interviewed the tour guide between Quechua and this site
