Hello! I am a senior undergraduate student in the Psychology Research program at the University of Toronto. I am passionate about children's mental health and the many ways that youth can overcome adversity. I am especially interested in developing interventions that promote resilience for survivors of childhood adversity. I balance this emotionally heavy passion with a deep appreciation of the world of comedy. This entails performing comedic improvisations at various venues in the city. As such, I am also fascinated by the relationship between comedy and mental health. My Summer 1 research project explored the relationship between childhood adversity, childhood aggression, and childhood self-regulation. My Summer 2 Leadership-in-Action project involved me independently developing and implementing a comedy-based psychosocial intervention for teenagers experiencing adversity at SOS Children's Villages in Cape Town, South Africa. Hi, my name is Amber (she/her) and I'm a year one psychology student at the University of Hong Kong. I will be heading to the University of Leeds this summer to conduct my Laidlaw project! The project aims to investigate which game should offer an appropriate level of challenge based on the reading level of the child.  In my free time, I like to produce songs and sometimes record covers as well. I love cats and I love grass :) Sometimes I write, mostly in Chinese though. The ultimate thing that brings me joy is having in-depth conversation with others. I am interested to learn how people view the world differently.  One thing about me that surprise people is that I am quite romantic. It might appear that I am logical and sometimes cold to people. I'd love to connect with people who love music, and even better if you also produce beats or songs. But generally, please approach me, if you want to of course. I do hope to make some new friends. 

I am the leadership developer for the University of Leeds. I am passionate about learning and ways in which we can all bring more of our true selves to work. I am keen to open dialogues about how leadership can be both effective and human in the 21st Century. My influences include a quote I learnt whilst studying to be a teacher at university "there is no liberating influence than the knowledge that things have not always been as they are and need not remain so." My name is Francesca and I am in my first year at the University of Leeds studying Geography (BSc).  My research project focuses on understanding students' expectations of sustainability in their curriculum and experience at the University. The research intends to gain a well rounded perspective of sustainability practices across differing disciplines and use that knowledge to ensure that we are practicing what we preach and encouraging changes to better the curriculums towards a sustainable future.  I look forward to connecting with many like-minded individuals who are eager to make significant change and adapt the needs of humanity in this climate crisis. 

I'm Phoebe and I’m a 2024 Laidlaw Scholar. I am a first year student of French and Italian at the University of Leeds. This summer I will be working on the research project 'Mapping Colonial Subjects in the French Resistance' supervised by Professor Nina Wardleworth.

I am currently a undergraduate student at the University of Leeds pursuing a degree in International Business. With the Laidlaw Scholarship I have participated in two leadership development residentials with the Laidlaw team at Leeds along with my cohort. My research project was titled "Exploring the Most Efficient Mapping Techniques and Platform to Map Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)"  which was a insightful exploration of curriculum mapping and the possibilities for artificial intelligence to assist within the mapping process.

Hi, I'm Megan and I study BSc Sport and Exercise Sciences at the University of Leeds within the School of Biomedical Sciences. In my degree programme studies, I have a keen interest in biomechanics, particularly the mechanics and energetics of human locomotion, as well as physiology and motor control. My research project title is "Investigating the perspectives of staff, students and industry partners on a novel method of teaching undergraduate students transferable skills".  Outside of my studies, I play rugby for the Leeds University Union Women's Rugby Union Football Club, where I am the kit secretary for the 24/25 season and a player on the 1st XV.
