Hello! My name is Eleanor Campbell, and I am a 2021 Laidlaw Scholar. I am a student at Columbia University in the City of New York, and I am originally from Raleigh, NC, USA. I major in Economics and am particularly interested in Behavioral Economics.

During my first year with Laidlaw, I worked with Professor Hitendra Wadhwa of the Columbia Business School in developing a leadership fellowship for aspiring young changemakers.

For my Leadership in Action project, I am working with World Vision on WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Health) projects in West Gonja, Ghana.

Hello, I'm a first-year chemical engineering student at UCL. My research project for this programme looked into the economic feasibility of three different wastewater treatment solutions for organic matter removal and energy production. I also explored the environmental sustainability of these technologies through a self-assessed quantitative impact assessment.

I'm a first-year undergraduate from India, studying Law at University College London. My Laidlaw project, 'The Historical Contractual Incapacity of Married Women,' traces a number of common law decisions and social norms that restricted married women's capacity to contract in 18th-19th Century England. The paper explores the legal rules that operated when a feme covert tried to make contracts with suppliers of goods and services; the reasons behind these rules; and how they changed through statutory reform.

Hi, my name is Pearls (She/Her); I am a second-year Law LLB student at Leeds.

My first-year research measured the impact of gamifying learning on improving the attainment score and content retention levels of ethnic minority and socio-economically disadvantaged students at Multi-Academy Trusts. 

I co-founded the Leeds University branch of the 93% Club and acted as its Schools Outreach Officer for nearly two years. In recent years I have volunteered at my local Citizens Advice. I will be tutoring primary level English as part of the Laidlaw Foundation’s tutoring initiative with The Tutor Association.

This June, I will be embarking on a year-long placement as a Contract Management Intern at The Walt Disney Company.

Hello! My name is Joe Linogao (he/him), and I am an Engineering with Management student at Trinity College Dublin. I became a Laidlaw Scholar for TCD on April 2021 with my research proposal, "Automated Procedure for the Microbial Analysis of Contact Plates."

For my course, I specialise in Energy/Fluid studies, focusing on fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and engineering design. Despite this, I have taken a keen interest in robotics and machine learning which were major influencers for my research project. Additionally, I am currently a part of a student-led Robotics research team under the same supervisor I have for Laidlaw.

Outside of college work, I am very interested in Arduino, coding (MATLAB/Python are my strongest languages), Solidworks and 3D Printing, all of which I have great knowledge with. However, I am always willing to hone my skills and learn other skills if need be.

My hobbies include music and Dungeons & Dragons (like the absolute nerd I am). Regarding music, I've posted many songs (covers & originals) on outlets such as Youtube, Spotify, Apple Music, and many more (check out my website for more details)! Due to this, I also have plenty of experience with software such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere Pro.

Hi all, my name is Zachary Ferretti! I am a junior at Tufts University, pursuing a major in Political Science as well as a double minor in Economics and Urban Studies. My research takes a sorely needed look at the 1,4 dioxane water crisis on Long Island, New York. I am excited to meet everyone and build strong connections across the Laidlaw Network!

First year UCL medic with a particular interest in neuroscience and psychiatry. I am passionate about social equality and am the Co-Founder of a student-led widening participation group, DIMA (Diversity in Medical Education) @dimafoundation. I am fascinated by the interaction between health and culture, religion, history, politics, economics and the environment.
