For my Leadership-in-Action, I am actively volunteering and (later) conducting fieldwork for a research team from the McCourt School of Public Policy involving disappearing Catholic Schools and the impact it can have on communities.

What went well?

This past week I continued working at the charity center while also meeting with my professor. The food program manager introduced me to one of the Church's Sisters as a contact which could potentially be used to reach ou school faculty. This is a good opportunity to set up an informational meeting and further connect my groundwork with specific research needs. In this aspect, I feel that I have developed key relationships and connections to the community where I work.

What could have been done differently?

While I feel more confident working with the center and the research. I still feel like I could find a more efficient way to research and I am also a bit uncertain about how much initiative I should take when reaching out to individuals for interviews.

What did I learn about myself while working with others?

I feel that I continually learn more about my leadership and working preference. I really appreciate frontfacing work and engaging with people throughout the day.

What did I learn about leadership?

I feel that leadership is oftentimes skill-based. I feel that in order to be able to be confident and act with certainty, it is important to have access to essential skills like foreign languages, operational knowledge, and critical thinking.

What do I want to develop or focus on next?

This coming week, I want to do more administrative tasks which the manager at the Center mentioned I could also complete.
