As I conclude my enriching experience in Kyoto with Guardian Inc., I want to share some of the incredible progress and personal insights I've gained while diving deep into our mission to combat child abuse and bullying.

Implementing "kimino micata" Across Schools

This past week was pivotal as we began rolling out the "kimino micata" app in local schools across Nagoya. Witnessing firsthand the enthusiasm of teachers and the engagement of students was profoundly moving. The app's discreet and child-friendly interface has been met with overwhelmingly positive feedback. We've been able to collect invaluable data that will help us refine our approach to safeguarding children in their daily environments.

"kimino micata" is more than just an app—it's an online communication support system designed for students. Accessible via tablets, smartphones, or any device with internet access, it provides a safe platform where students can comfortably express their feelings and concerns through carefully crafted questionnaires. These questionnaires are overseen by psychological experts from Japan and abroad, ensuring the content is both trustworthy and effective.

Enhancing Fundraising and Community Engagement

Our online visibility has seen a significant uptick thanks to targeted SEO strategies and dynamic social media campaigns. I've had the chance to interact with our wonderful audience through our digital platforms on Facebook and Instagram, sharing stories and updates that highlight the tangible changes we're making.

Last week, we launched a series of branding workshops in Tokyo aimed at aligning our message more closely with our audience’s values. Engaging with headteachers from three schools in Tokyo was particularly rewarding. I was able to showcase the immense benefits that "kimino micata" can bring to their students. Meetings like these have already begun to foster deeper connections and increase support for our cause.

Cultural Immersion and Leadership Growth

Living and working in Kyoto has allowed me to immerse myself deeply in the local culture. From language lessons to participating in community events, each day has been a learning experience that has enriched my understanding of this vibrant country and its people. This cultural integration has not only fueled my personal growth but has also informed my professional approach, enabling me to lead more effectively.

Looking Ahead

As my Leadership in Action (LiA) program comes to a close, I am excited about the future of schools in Japan. Caitlin, the founder of Guardian Inc., has been tirelessly working to promote anti-bullying initiatives in as many schools as possible. This week, we filmed for a Japanese TV show to promote children’s mental health in a more engaging and entertaining way. Never did I imagine that I would find myself on Japanese television!

The continued support and engagement from sponsors both in Japan and internationally inspire me every day. I am profoundly grateful for how much I have learned about Japanese culture and beliefs. This experience has allowed me to take meaningful action as a leader and make a difference in a country that was once completely foreign to me.
