In 2020, Oxford's Saïd Business School became a partner of the Laidlaw Foundation's Women's Business Education Scholarship Programme. The Oxford SBS Laidlaw Scholars will be joining over 300 Laidlaw Scholars from Columbia Business School whom the Laidlaw Foundation has supported to earn their MBAs; and Scholars at London Business School where the Foundation launched a Women’s Movement in 2019.

I am a Senior Mechanical Engineering student with a minor in Engineering Management and Human Factors Engineering at Tufts. Throughout my undergraduate Laidlaw research career, I have been working on two different research projects. At the Tufts Human Factors Lab, I was designing the next generation soft robotics exoskeleton suit. Together with the research team, we are discovering creative way to embed silicone based soft robots to a lightweight exoskeleton suit. When COVID-19 pandemic out broke in the US, our lab got shut down so I switched to a different research project: investigating the effect of stirring and undercooling on the phase transformation of the FeCo alloy. Two journal publications are pending and I am finishing up my Senior Honor thesis on this topic. Currently I am the Product Management Coop in the New Product Development team at iRobot
My name is Valeria Lopez, and I am a current junior at Tufts University studying Biology and Child development. I hope to one day go to medical school and become an ophthalmologist.
Scarlet is an undergraduate student studying Community Health and Biology at Tufts. She is interested in a combination of disciplines, including medicine, infectious disease transmission, global health, and climate and environmental health. At Tufts she also has worked as a Communications and Outreach Intern for the Environmental Studies Department, is part of Timmy Global Health, and runs for the Women's Track & Field team. Her research experience also includes vector-borne disease research of the Semliki Forest Complex in Samoa with the Williams Lab at Smith College. Currently in the Pickering Lab she is a Laidlaw Scholar working on the PARE project, studying emergent markers for antibiotic resistance in the environment and working to develop a usable test for classroom curricula which will analyze soil samples to map antibiotic resistance in efforts to mitigate this serious global health issue.
I am part of the class of 2020 at Tufts University and a member of Tufts' first Laidlaw Scholars cohort. I am a double major in Religion and Environmental Studies and I am interested in studying how religion is used in practice to mediate interfaith conflicts. My research for my Laidlaw Project runs along these lines – I am researching how and why various religious theologies are used by environmental groups in Israel to promote environmentalism and tackle disputes over natural resources.
