Week 3 LIA Reflection
What went well?
The progress I made; what was achieved and done
I held a legal knowledge exchange & sharing session (on ICT, scam prevention and the law) at the Woopie Club Elderly Day Care Centre. In addition, I also visited some elderly people and went onto a VR video filming trip in Kowloon City with a young old.
What could have been done differently?
Things that did not get done and/or could be changed
I should have better prepared for the legal knowledge exchange & sharing session that it can be more engaging. Many of the elderly people who participated in the workshop is out of touch with the community and knows nothing about what is happening (many of them have dementia). This is totally out of my expectation.
What did I learn about myself when working with others?
Contributions, behaviours and values I exhibited
I discovered that I have the capability to think of a contingency and execute immediately (although it is better to have contingencies in advance and think twice about what the plan should be in delivering something.
What did I learn about leadership?
Leadership attributes and insights I developed
Leadership is about understanding the needs of others in order to make a change. Often, one would wish to make certain changes or install certain ideas in other people. What you think is important matters. But what is useful or important to other people might be different. We must understand other’s needs to decide what changes we want to make ultimately and consider whether our agenda makes sense to your target. Modification is required. It is not only about what you think, but also what others think.
What do I want to develop or focus on next?
What I still need to develop
Think twice before planning something and learn to throughly understand the needs of others, espcially the people you serve.
