This week, we are featuring a quote from the Irish singer and musician Sinéad O'Connor to commemorate her recent passing.

Sinéad O'Connor (1966-2023) was an Irish singer and musician. Born in Dublin, Ireland, she spent her early life there, attending school in County Dublin. Her career as a musician began with a band she formed with others called Ton Ton Macoute. Her work with the band brought her to the attention of the music industry, which eventually led to her signing with a record label as a solo artist.

Throughout her career, O'Connor released 10 studio albums. Her debut studio album, The Lion and the Cobra, was released in 1987 and received critical acclaim and a Grammy nomination.  In 1991, she won the Brit Award for International Female Solo Artist and a Grammy Award for her second album I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got.

She was an advocate for social issues such as child abuse, human rights, racism, women's rights and mental health struggles. She used her music to spread awareness about the importance of compassion, acceptance and understanding.
