Week 6 LiA Reflection
Practising the pitch
With the farewell party approaching in a few days, we had the opportunity to practise our pitches in front of Keni and Nuri, our makesense facilitators, as well as scholars from the other teams. Preparing for this presentation provided an opportunity for me to reflect on my six-week journey working with Huerto Roma Verde (HRV) and evaluate whether we had met our objectives.
Our mission was to address the lack of climate education in schools by developing educational materials that empower sustainable behaviors and foster ecological awareness. I surely believe our deliverables — the 10Rs booklets, information guides on native plants, and stencil design for the waste separation tool — have made a meaningful impact in achieving this goal. Thanks to Keni and Nuri’s feedback, we refined our presentation to ensure we could effectively share our work at the farewell party.
Internal closing
On the second-to-last day of our programme, we had our internal closing on the rooftop of our hostel with Keni and Nuri. We shared our learnings, takeaways, and feelings on the journey. Looking back, I was grateful to have spent my leadership-in-action journey in Mexico City in a supportive, caring, and inspiring environment with Keni, Nuri, and fellow scholars. I was deeply fulfilled by our accomplishments and was gratified by the new experiences I gained while immersing myself in Mexico City's culture. These six weeks in this vibrant city have been an unforgettable journey that I will cherish forever.
Farewell party
The farewell party on Thursday marked the end of our leadership-in-action journey. During the event we presented our work, showcasing how we tackled social and environmental challenges to our partner organisations and volunteers. Even though we are facing numerous social and environmental challenges like climate change and gender violence, we all can be changemakers. With our collective effort, we can make a difference, create a far-reaching impact, and together envision and work toward a brighter future.
