LiA project--week 6 review
What went well?
The progress I made; what was achieved and done
During this week, I contributed to the preparations for a workshop about meditation in collaboration with the NGO "Youth Space." Collaborating closely with the meditation instructor, I assisted in crafting the presentation slides and organizing the workshop structure. The workshop was executed with great success. All the participants engaged enthusiastically, and they actively shared their ideas and feelings toward different perspectives of their lives throughout the session. Besides the workshop, I also helped with designing the poster and drafting the email to recruit more volunteers for our organization to promote yoga and meditation on campus, with the aim of spreading positivity to a wider range of people.
What could have been done differently?
Things that did not get done and/or could be changed
Looking back, I believe there is still room for improvement in terms of my working productivity and efficiency. Much like my productivity in the previous week, while I managed to complete the tasks assigned to me within the designated tim, I did notice that I still had a tendency to procrastinate quite a bit. This is an aspect I need to address more in the future.
What did I learn about myself when working with others?
Contributions, behaviours and values I exhibited
Through this experience, I've realized the importance of active and efficient collaboration when working with someone else. In fact, it's essential to listen carefully to each other’s needs so that we can work towards a consensus before starting to do our work. By doing so, I may therefore assure that we can avoid unnecessary extra communication and reduce the need for more post-task refinements that might result from miscommunication.
What did I learn about leadership?
Leadership attributes and insights I developed
This week, I gained valuable insights into what counts as effective leadership, particularly about the significance of collaboration and understanding team members' individual needs. Through preparing for the workshop, I discovered that successful leadership requires the ability to foster a cohesive team environment where each member's strengths can be utilized. By actively listening to others' perspectives and taking the time to understand their needs, leaders can therefore ensure tasks can be appropriately assigned and executed. This not only enhances work efficiency but also minimizes the chances of misunderstandings, and ultimately leads to a more harmonious and productive team dynamic.
What do I want to develop or focus on next?
What I still need to develop
In the future, I will continue to work on my leadership skills and work efficiency. I will also keep promoting positivity on campus and in the community through yoga and meditation to help more people find their inner peace in this hectic social environment.
