LiA project--week 4 review
What went well?
The progress I made; what was achieved and done
This week my teammates and I successfully made our very first video to promote our meditation lessons to a wider audience. The process involved several productive meetings, even during nighttime sessions to ensure everything can be conducted smoothly as planned. Despite that none of us are skilled at video editing and production, we managed to communicate well, and did some research to make sure our video can be informative and engaging enough.
What could have been done differently?
Things that did not get done and/or could be changed
Despite the communication process was generally smooth, there were also times that my teammates and I faced challenges in determining the most effective allocation of video time properly to the various elements we wanted to display to the audience for various elements we wanted to showcase to the audience. For instance, one specific issue we encountered was striking the right balance between displaying the lesson time and allowing enough room for student sharing time. In addition, due to some misunderstanding, the first draft was not as good as we expected as there were many details that needed to be rearranged.
What did I learn about myself when working with others?
Contributions, behaviours and values I exhibited
I learned that despite that during group work, there will definitely have times when challenges are inevitable, it is important to create a mutually supportive environment where everyone can be elevated to do their work with passion and motivation. Rather than blaming each other for any perceived skill gaps, we should focus on providing support to enable everyone to perform their best. In addition, we should not underestimate the difficulty of a task as things can always appear to be more complicated than we thought if producing quality work is the goal.
What did I learn about leadership?
Leadership attributes and insights I developed
I learned that leadership is centered around providing necessary support to each other during difficult times. Therefore, effective leaders should understand that fostering a supportive environment where team members can thrive and achieve their best results is utterly crucial. By being there for each other, leaders can empower their teams and ensure the successful accomplishment of collective goals.
What do I want to develop or focus on next?
What I still need to develop
I will continue to sharpen the video content with my group as we feel that there are still things that we need to revise in the video to make it better. In addition, despite the meditation workshop cannot be conducted during my internship time, I will still continue to communicate about the arrangement of the workshop with my groupmates to help them prepare for the workshop design more effectively.
