Leadership in Action – Week 6
Concluding the Journey: Reflection and Impact
This week marked the conclusion of my Leadership-in-Action project at the Breast Cancer Foundation. I wrapped up the digital prototype of the Game of Life: Breast Health Edition, along with the content designed to promote breast cancer awareness. After several rounds of development and refinement, the final version offers a simplified yet interactive experience that encourages users to reflect on lifestyle choices and their relevance to breast health.
The team provided very positive feedback, particularly on how the game managed to deliver meaningful messaging through an engaging and accessible format. It was rewarding to hear that the user interactions prompted reflection and curiosity, aligning well with the project’s objective of sparking awareness in a thoughtful way. We also drafted some ideas for accompanying animations, which will be developed by the web portal team as the project moves forward.
In addition to finalising the game, I also assisted at the Adventure Jar book launch event, which I had helped prepare earlier. The book is aimed at children whose mothers are living with or recovering from breast cancer, and the launch included an interactive theatre performance by our collaborators. It was heartening to see how engaged the children were, and how the families responded to the storytelling. The event created a warm and meaningful atmosphere, making complex topics more approachable for young audiences while also fostering shared moments of learning.
Reflecting on the past six weeks, I am grateful for the opportunity to apply my skills in a real-world setting, while learning more about the emotional and social dimensions of breast cancer. This experience has deepened my understanding of how public engagement, design, and empathy can work hand in hand to support awareness and community care.
