Role: Laidlaw Scholars Conference Intern  
Location: London (Hybrid – Wed–Fri in-office) 
Duration: 3 weeks (with the opportunity to extend an additional week)  
Dates: Wednesday 1 July – Wednesday 22 July 2026 

Compensation: London Living Wage 
Eligibility: Laidlaw Scholars and Alumni only 

⚠️ Please Note: Unfortunately, we cannot provide travel or accommodation support for Scholars to travel to London and back for this internship.  

Are you a current or former Laidlaw Scholar eager to deepen your impact, gain hands-on experience, and support mission-driven work? We are looking for an Events and Marketing Intern to join the Laidlaw Foundation team this summer for a short-term, high-impact opportunity.  

🧠 What You’ll Do  

You’ll be an integral part of our efforts in the lead up to the Laidlaw Scholars conferences and Elevate Laidlaw Women’s Event, helping us better engage with our community and elevate our brand. Responsibilities include: 

Marketing & Communications  

  • Support marketing and communications efforts in the lead-up to the conferences, including creating initial social media content and drafting copy for the conference website 
  • Build and structure websites for the Laidlaw Scholars Conferences and the Elevate Laidlaw Women’s Event 
  • Draft and update core conference web copy (agenda, themes, session descriptions) 
  • Update Scholar FAQs and key conference information on the website 

Programme & Content Support  

  • Assist with shaping the overall conference programme structure and session formats 
  • Draft initial session introduction scripts and panel descriptions 

Speaker & Stakeholder Liaison  

  • Liaise with confirmed speakers to collect key information, including biographies, headshots, and preliminary session details 
  • Create and begin populating speaker information trackers and databases 
  • Draft templates for speaker communications and briefing packs 

Logistics & Operations  

  • Support the drafting of early logistics communications for Scholars and speakers (save-the-dates, travel guidance, timelines) 
  • Assist with setting up conference feedback forms and post-event evaluation templates in advance

  • Current Laidlaw Scholar or alumnus 
  • Excellent written English 
  • Strong project management, strategy and organisational skills 
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Strong research and analytical skills 
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and building from scratch  
  • Ability to work efficiently, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities 
  • Clear and confident communicator 
  • Proficiency in Excel

📍 Location  

Hybrid role, based in Central London. You must be available to work from our office Wednesday to Friday each week during the internship period. Unfortunately, we cannot provide travel or accommodation support. 

Compensation  

You will be paid London Living Wage.
