During my second week in Peru, I had the opportunity to visit the organization I'm collaborating with—Casa Ronald McDonald. This visit was not only my introduction to the organization but a practical dive into the design thinking framework we've been exploring, particularly the phase: empathizing.

Our group was warmly welcomed by the staff at Casa Ronald McDonald, which provides a comforting home for families of children seeking medical treatment We toured the vibrant and thoughtful spaces designed to ease the hardships of hospital routines, but the heart of our visit was the interactions with the children and their families. Later, we assisted in handing out meals to the families, a simple act that brought us closer to understanding their daily lives. These moments transcended ordinary exchanges; they were deep, emotional connections that allowed us to see, hear, and feel the experiences of those we aim to serve.

The visit underscored the importance of empathy in service. Engaging directly with the families deepened our commitment to our work and reinforced the practical importance of empathy. This hands-on experience brought to life the lessons on empathizing, making it a tangible, impactful action. As we advance in our project, the insights gained from this visit will guide our strategies, ensuring they are compassionate and truly responsive to the needs of those we're here to help.
