The Ventral Amygdalofugal Pathway: A Novel Approach to Virtual Dissection

The Ventral Amygdalofugal Pathway is one of the primary output pathways of the amygdala. This poster represents my first summer of research where I, for the first time, virtually dissected this tract. In my second summer of research, I will be demonstrating the effects of depression on this pathway.

I was awarded the honour of 'Ireland's Undergraduate Medical Researcher of the Year' for this work at the Student Medical Summit 2020. This research was undertaken at the Trinity College Institute of Neuroscience. I'd like to give a special thanks to my supervisors Dr Erik O'Hanlon, Dr Darren Roddy and Prof Veronica O'Keane for mentroing me and giving me the opportunity to undertake this research in their lab.

My research revolves around using neuroimaging to virtually dissect tracts in the brain. This will help me potentially elucidate pathophysiological changes during Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) and create a scaffold for further research into the tracts I'm investigating.
