The Laidlaw Scholars Conference will include a conversation on Saturday between Lord Laidlaw and Trinity's Provost & President Linda Doyle. As part of this we're inviting Laidlaw Scholars to submit questions for a Q&A segment with Lord Laidlaw. One of our initial discussions during the All-Hands was regarding how we can recruit students with a focus on the LiA experience built into the process. Some suggestions and best practice from the group included: - Ensuring that there is robust detail on the LiA experience as part of the information sessions - Including specific student testimonials from all kinds of LiA experiences, both live in the info sessions and in written, video, social media etc.  - Directing applicants to examples of previous experiences on local websites and the Laidlaw Scholars Network - Building clear criteria in the recruitment process around the applicant's thought process and capacity for LiA - what do they want to develop from that experience specifically, what initial thoughts do they have, what's their motivation? Potentially an interview question focused on 'What would you do in this LiA scenario?' from a leadership perspective - Consider what the differences are between students applying for central or self-identified LiAs and how to assess them comparatively - Emphasise that the LiA is a core and cumulative part of the current programme and will become even more so as the programme evoles - Be explicit about the financial and time commitments and give students an opportunity to consider these and engage with them knowingly during the application process.
