Leadership in Action: Computer Education Project in Eldoret, Kenya

This summer, I led a computer education project at a School in Eldoret, Kenya. From first steps in typing and Paint to making slides, students discovered technology with excitement. What I’ll remember most are the connections; teaching, playing, and sharing moments with students!

This summer, I had the privilege of leading a computer literacy project at a School in Eldoret, Kenya, as part of my Leadership in Action journey.

The goal was simple but powerful: introduce young students — many of whom had never touched a computer before — to the basics of digital skills. We explored typing, drawing with Paint, storytelling with PowerPoint, and even programming through Scratch. Watching their curiosity turn into confidence was an unforgettable experience.

What stayed with me most was the human connection: the joy of children proudly showing their first slides, decorating my hair with flowers, or laughing at animations they had coded. These moments reminded me that education is not only about technical knowledge, but also about encouragement, creativity, and trust.

I leave Eldoret with gratitude — for the students, teachers, and staff of the School, and for the opportunity to witness how access to technology can open new doors. This journey has deepened my belief in the transformative power of learning and community.
