Rachel Wan (She/Her)

Student, UCL
Rucha Benare (she/her)

Biomedical engineering research student, Trinity College Dublin

I am interested in fields of mechanobiology, biohybrid prosthetics, biophysics, Jungian psychology, and philosophy.

Recently in association with Laidlaw;

In Cornell University (N.Y, U.S.A.) I worked on curating an art book on biomechanics for charity to raise awareness in this field of science.

And in Trinity College Dublin (Ireland), we worked on developing a microphysiological model of the osteocytic network in the bone that can be used to better understand the (patho)physiology of bone using Direct Laser Writing technology using MLO-Y4 cell culture.

On the side;

In ETH Zürich (Switzerland), I was working on understanding bio-hybrid muscle actuators using C2C12 cell culture literature review.

At DogPatch Labs's Patch (Dublin, Ireland) I was experimenting with creating an experimental start-up company to help amputees get affordable prosthetics.

On the (other) side;

I like to dance, write, and read anything I get my hands on; be it music, poetry, or even shampoo bottles.

Please feel free to contact me here or on LinkedIn for any discussions regarding the aforementioned topics!

Hi! I am a 3rd year Nanoscience student at Trinity College Dublin. My research project deals with urban micrometeorites in Dublin.
Caitlin Gough

Student, University of Leeds

Hi! I am studying chemistry at The University of Leeds, I am an Undergraduate Scholar doing a research project titled 'The Upper Atmosphere of Mars'.

Hi! I'm Laetisha, a medical student at UCL with an interest in topics in the general realm of the functions of the brain, including neuroscience, psychology, and mental health. In specific, I find the mechanisms of consciousness intriguing, and the ability of the brain to translate physical interactions into intangible thoughts and personalities. I hope to one day be able to contribute research to this still very much developing field to understand these abstract concepts. I also hope to improve access to healthcare, especially mental healthcare in my home country, where disparities are pronounced. I am currently in the process of completing my research paper entitled, "Author Name Complexity (as a Possible Indication of Memorability) and Citations", under the supervision of my supervisor, Marianna Kapsetaki.
Jamie Palmer

Scholar, Trinity College Dublin

Hi I'm Jamie. I am a 22 year old Mechanical Engineering Student from Trinity College Dublin

My project "Thermoeconomic analysis of a Prototype Vapour Compression Distillation Device" aims to combat metal poisining in the developing world.

I'm happiest when building. I've built everything from engines to robots to water filters. I have a keen interest in 3D printing, robotics and vehicle dynamics. I also co-founded Vaporly and have an avid interest in entrepreneurship.

If you are working to solve a hard problem I'd love to hear about it! Shoot me a message or email anytime.

Pearls Eddo

Law LLB, University of Leeds

Hi, my name is Pearls; I am a third-year Law (Industrial) student at Leeds. I am currently in a placement year at The Walt Disney Company as a CPGP Contract Management Intern! My first-year research project looked at the way game-based learning could be incorporated into Multi-Academy Trusts (aka MATs) to improve the academic attainment and classroom engagement of GCSE-year black students. For my Leadership-in-Action project in 2023, I will be travelling to Peru with MakeSense to plan ways to empower the indigenous communities which reside in the country.

Natalie Magness

Student, University College London

Hi, I am Natalie Magness, a first-year Human Sciences student at University College London interested in biological anthropology and social entrepreneurship. I am a strong believer that seeing humans through both a biological and social-cultural perspective will bring us closer to solving our biggest global issues.

I am a Malaysian of a Chinese and Eurasian ethnicity and was fortunate enough to have been raised in Qatar, an extremely diverse nation. This third-culture identity has moulded me into a global citizen passionate about connecting with others but also has exposed me to the different hardships and injustices others face, reinforcing me desire to use my privilege to help others.

Thank you for your time!

Laidlaw Scholar 2022, UCL
