What went well?
The progress I made; what was achieved and done
I made significant progress toward finalizing the research components of our early childhood education facilitation. As part of this, I was able to develop a 50-state scan regarding Kindergarten readiness assessment usage.
What could have been done differently?
Things that did not get done and/or could be changed
A lot of my time was spent working on different projects for the team this week. We were helping to facilitate a teacher training conference, which needed some assistance from everyone. This was interesting, and I learned a lot, but I wasn’t able to balance time as well between that conference and the other responsibilities I needed to do.
What did I learn about myself when working with others?
Contributions, behaviours and values I exhibited
I need to be patient when people ask questions that I think are obvious. Just because I think it is so, doesn’t mean it is obvious to them. This week in developing the conference there were a lot of questions that I felt didn’t need to be asked, but it was good practice in keeping my mouth shut when need be.
What did I learn about leadership?
Leadership attributes and insights I developed
So much of leadership is simply planning and awareness. Our team was spread across a number of projects this week, working on developing a number of tasks. I think good leadership involves being in tune with all of that and being aware of what your team members are doing while giving them the autonomy to not be micromanaged. Additionally, without a strong planner, I think it is hard to keep a team moving forward cohesively.
What do I want to develop or focus on next?
What I still need to develop
I’m really excited to get my 50-state scan, literature review, and case studies finalized!
