This week 30 kids from the Ezimbuzini informal settlement were invited by the University of South Africa for a three day long Robotics and Coding Program. The kids got an opportunity to learn about pollution, and is implications on the environment and climate, They explored the various sways they could make an impact as individuals whilst fostering camaraderie with student from various schools in Johannesburg. The kids then got to build and code robots that cleaned up miniature versions of the Indian Ocean.
All the students got the opportunity to then tour the University of South Africa campus, and talk to different professors, researchers, and students.
This was a remarkable opportunity to expose the kids to various fields in STEM, and hopefully inspire them to considered careers in the fields of robotics, environmentalism, and environmental health justice.

I admire your dedication to education and providing tangible lesson plans for student to participate in, especially to something so pertinent. As someone who considers education to be a great equalizer, encouraging youth from communities directly impacted by pollution to address the issue allows for such an incredibly unique commitment and passion towards environmental justice.
