An Overview of this Week's Research Activities:

What was the plan and how did I execute it

  1. After collecting and synthesizing all the necessary legal sources for my paper, I began the writing process this week. While unorthodox in application, I decided to write the paper first and then make the poster because it will be easier to pull information out of a formally written document than to base myself off of synopses of information. Since my topic is very complex and needs a thorough explanation of all components, I split my paper into eight different sections, not including the preface, introduction, subheadings, and appendices. I knew this writing goal would be ambitious, but with the amount of hours I put in everyday, anything was feasible.

Anticipated Plans for the Following Week:

What are my project aspirations moving forward

  1. With this second week dedicated to the actual writing of my research paper, my anticipated plans will revolve around revision. By the following week (06/12 - 06/16), I want be at a stage where I can create my research poster and hopefully be done with my deliverable.

Accomplishments and Goals

Specific tasks

  1. I was able to FINISH my entire paper, amassing a total of 44 pages in length (with all citations implemented correctly as well).
  2. I was able to proof-read my own writing and send out my paper to various mentors for revision
  3. Although I thought I would take more than five days, I surpassed my own expectations and was able to accomplish all the writing on Friday, June 16th, continuing the great pace that will lead into the following week(s).
  4. I was able to finally return the books I checked out from the GU Law Campus structure, so I wasn't charged any overdue fees.
  5. I met with my faculty advisor, Professor David Burk of the Economics Department at Georgetown University again on Thursday (06/015) where we discussed how the peer-editing process would go and what I envision for my poster.
  6. Fulfill my 40 hour a week work requirement by taking the Georgetown University Transportation Services (GUTS) buses and working from 9-5 everyday.

    Possible Challenges?

What were my setback(s), if any, and the steps that need to be taken to address this issue

    1. The only setback I had was figuring out which quotes I would want to use from each material and then meet the time deadline I set for myself. Besides these smaller obstacles, the rest of the writing process went fairly smooth.

Thank you for reading the updates for Week 3 of my fellowship research project, I look forward to describing where I am this time next week.
