Recently, I presented the research I am doing at the Living Lab at F&M, and moderated a discussion group for women-identifying and scholar alumni. For me, this experience was valuable. I gained valuable insights about leadership from the first week of Laidlaw. I felt that, in leading a discussion group and presenting in front of a large amount of people, I was able to put leadership into practice. I would not have had the courage to do this, nor the reassurance, had it not been for my grad mentor (Nox), who supported me immensely. In the lab itself, I learned a great deal about metacognition, subjective experiences, imagination, and visual mental imagery. Furthermore, I learned how research in general functions -- from launching an experiment, to data collection, to recruiting participants, to the administrative aspect of conducting a psychological experiment. The amount of knowledge I was able to gain is of great value to me. I have yet to learn more, and for that I feel grateful (especially with the kindness, support, and patience from my fellow mentors at lab -- namely, Tim and Professor Spagna).
