A Guide to Perseverance
Throughout this summer, myself and the student body of Oxford’s Africa Society have collaborated on our teaching guide for student organizations, hoping to bridge gaps within communities with the ultimate goal of fostering a greater campus community that thrives on solidarity, connection, and conversation. Teamwork and open communication have gone hand in hand as the Africa Society welcomed my curiosity and excused my Americanisms. Together, we finished a comprehensive teaching guide we hope to implement and distribute to other students, encouraging intersectionality within our student clubs for a more holistic and engaging space students can share together. We were able to bond over our shared experiences, balancing between administrations and student needs as well as recognizing the challenges our broader communities have still yet to face, and because of our candid discussions, our teaching guide has been able to be nuanced and adaptable.
