Hi, I'm Leaderboard. graduated MSc student in Advanced Computing at Imperial College London.  I've graduated from St Andrews in Computer Science and Mathematics, and spent my third year abroad at Purdue University (Report 6 on GitHub describes my experience there!). My research interests lie in computer architecture, operating systems and compiler optimisations, and last summer I analysed the effects of compiler optimisations on the run-time performance of different applications. In the summer of 2020, I looked at the angle of multithreaded programs, which includes analysing OS schedulers and seeing their run-time impact on performance.

I am a graduate of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering at the University of Rwanda. I am also the STEM Subject Lead. My Laidlaw research project is about bringing a system that could help minimize the number of high-school and primary students who bring cell phones to school since it's one of the major sources of distraction. I did my Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University Africa, majoring in Cybersecurity and Data Science.

Hello everyone. My name is Wulan, I'm one of the first Laidlaw Women's Leadership scholars at London Business School (LBS). I'm currently doing an Executive MBA at LBS and at the same time working for one of the leading banks in the United Arab Emirates where I'm heading Multi Segment Marketing for the Retail Banking Group. I have 14+ years of experience in marketing communications in various industries across the Middle East and Southeast Asia. I started working in Advertising in Jakarta, Indonesia and then transitioned to the Retail Banking sector for the past 10 years in Dubai. I share Laidlaw Foundation's vision in addressing the global imbalance of women leaders and I believe the education & strong network at LBS will help me to contribute in the right direction.

Greetings, I am Pacifique HAKIZIMANA, an alum of University of Rwanda College of Science and Technology, with a specialization in Information Systems. I have recently completed a research project focused on the transition from traditional paper-based processes to digital systems within university environments. The objective is to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of academic services. The motto guiding this endeavor is "Go green, Go paperless," as we seek to promote a sustainable and eco-friendly approach to education management.

Andrew Singleton has recently joined the Tufts-Laidlaw Undergraduate Research and Leadership Programme team as a Programme Administrator and is excited to continue to elevate the Laidlaw Programming for current and future scholars. He joined the programme from Venture Café, which connects and educates the entrepreneurial and innovation community in Boston through programs/spaces/events and many other cities around the world. He has a B.S. from MIT in Biology and a background in social-impact enterprises, wind-power, user-computer-interfaces, as well as computer network design. In his spare time, Andrew enjoys travel, hiking, and wildlife photography.

Alex was the Programme Director of the Laidlaw Scholars Leadership and Research Programme from September 2021 - May 2024.  Prior to joining the Laidlaw Foundation Alex spent over a decade at the University of St Andrews, Scotland, where he most recently managed the university’s Laidlaw Scholars Programme. In addition, Alex taught leadership courses and guest-lectured internationally on the subjects of strategy and leadership. A bilingual speaker, dual national and keen traveller, Alex has lived, visited and worked in several countries around the world. During this time, he has had a unique opportunity to encounter and explore different cultures and working environments, experiencing first-hand what good leadership can achieve. His passion for this topic is driven by these experiences and a desire to challenge people to unlock their full leadership potential. Alex holds an MBA from the Open University and a Master of Research in Management from the University of St Andrews. He has also obtained Associate Fellow status with the Higher Education Academy. In his spare time, Alex is an avid skier and volunteers with a local guide dog organisation.

Hi, I'm a Durham University undergraduate studying Economics and Politics. My Laidlaw Scholarship independent research project focuses on 'Youth Employment Experiences in the Informal-Formal Nexus of the Indian Labour Market’ and explores the employment aspirations of India’s youth in an economic environment that is characterised by increasing job precariousness. I am a published author, and my recently-released book ‘Why People Give’ (Sage Publications), which discusses the motivations that drive philanthropy. I am also a NextGen leader at the Aspen Institute and discuss how the potential of artificial intelligence can be realised in an ethical manner with other thinkers. Currently spending my days reading, sketching and watching a lot of Netflix in between planning my next projects!
