This past week was the final week of RC's summer programming. On Wednesday, the last day of leagues, a few other interns and I went to Amman 2, my favorite hub site. While all of RC's hub sites are amazing and unique, I felt like I happened to connect the most with the coaches and girls at Amman 2, making it an even more meaningful experience for me. On the last day, we took lots of pictures with the coaches and played an awesome game of soccer. One thing I love about the coaches at Amman 2 is that they have figured out the perfect amount of competitive attitude to show with the girls in a game setting. They are competitive enough that it makes for a fun and active game, but they don't make the game about themselves or hog the ball from the girls.

I am definitely sad programming is over for the summer. As I've said in previous posts, my absolute favorite part of my time at RC has been my time at the hub sites and on the field. Obviously the office work is necessary in terms of allowing the organization to function, but on the field programming is at the heart of RC's mission and operations, and the best part of my workday has consistently been getting to go to camp or leagues. It was also wonderful to connect with the coaches, many of whom are around our age. They are all really interesting women who are passionate about RC's mission, which you can really see as you watch them interact with the girls.

Though this is technically my final post for the summer, I am still at RC in the office for one more week wrapping up office tasks. Unfortunately, this past week turned out to be quite chaotic -- I found out my flight home had been cancelled due to the situation in the region. Two of the other interns with more imminent starting dates for fall semester classes moved up their flights and left almost immediately given the high possibility of cancellations and delays. It made for a disjointed end of the week/weekend and will certainly put a damper on this last week in the office. I rescheduled my flight, but instead of having another full week in Amman, I now leave midweek this upcoming week, cutting my time short in Amman and in the office. This really served as a reminder to me for the need to be flexible and aware when spending extended periods of time outside of the US.

In my final few days with RC this week, I will be wrapping up a couple of projects I have been working on, particularly my tasks related to our recent switch to a new fundraising/donation tracking database. We will also have to re-inventory and reorganize lots of the equipment that has been returned from leagues before distributing it back to the hub sites for fall after school programing. Other than that, I look forward to going to a few of my favorite food spots in Amman one last time before I leave. I cannot believe my time here is coming to a close and I look forward to sharing more of my thoughts in my final deliverable following my return to the US.
