This past week was the first week of leagues at RC's hub sites across Jordan. For leagues, each hub site runs only twice a week, one day for the younger girls 6-12 and one day for the older girls 13-18. Unlike summer camp which runs multiple sports at once, leagues also tend to focus on one sport, either soccer, frisbee, or basketball. While camp is lots of fun and happy chaos, the coaches mentioned that they like leagues better because they are calmer and it is easier to organize half of the girls instead of all of the girls at once.

I am still working out what my role looks like in leagues. During camp, everything was so busy that there was always something to do, whether it was helping a coach set up a game or playing with the younger girls if they needed an even number of people. Sometimes in leagues I've been playing with the girls, but other times I've been on the sidelines with the other coaches acting more as a referee.

I finally finished a project I'd been working on for a few weeks, which was really exciting. I've been writing a grant application for the FIFA Foundation to support a pilot program of competitive summer soccer leagues. It was a fascinating look into the grant writing process. Concurrently I've also been working on a grant report fora different project, so I've gotten to see multiple sides of the grant process.

Outside of work, this past weekend we visited Petra and Wadi Rum. Petra is absolutely amazing and much bigger than I expected, and Wadi Rum was super cool since I had never been to a desert ever before. After a long and hectic weekend of travel, it is nice to be back in Amman and settling into the work week.

This upcoming week, the other interns and I will be attending some days of outreach camp where RC trains new coaches and runs a week of camp in a new area of Jordan. Additionally, I am hoping to start wrapping up some of my longer term projects as we are only in Jordan for another 3 weeks.
