Goals
The project aims to enhance the quality of life for residents in long-term and hospice care at St. Brigid’s Home in Québec City by restoring small but meaningful opportunities for autonomy and choice. It will also seek to foster my personal and professional development by immersing me in a French-speaking healthcare environment and encouraging collaboration across cultures.

Objectives
- To observe and contribute to care teams in both clinical (CHUL hospital) and residential (St. Brigid’s) settings, gaining insight into different models of healthcare delivery.
- To strengthen my ability to communicate in a setting where I am not fluent in the primary language, developing non-verbal and empathetic communication strategies.
- To build intercultural understanding and global perspective by living and working in a French-speaking community and collaborating with international peers.

Expected Outcomes
- I will gain practical skills in patient interaction that go beyond language, focusing on empathy, presence, and adaptability.
- The experience will broaden my understanding of healthcare as not only treatment-focused but also centred on humanity and quality of life.
- I will develop resilience and confidence in navigating new cultural and professional environments, while forming lasting connections with peers from diverse backgrounds.
