LiA Week 5: Last Period at 201
As summer is in full effect, the excitement for school withers away in room 201 students still come excited to learn more. Together, we celebrated the end of this workshop series finalizing the details of their manifesto. I appreciated the creative approach of the students as one of the works of students is planned to display in concrete poetry and another in mixed media watercolor form. Although the end of the workshop series was a week ahead than expected I was able to develop the kids' perspective on how they aim to historicize their communities and most importantly attend the end-of-year celebration to mark the end of all their hard work. Students were expected to present their projects where they documented the work they created for one year, reflect on changes they would’ve made, and think about how they could be better learners. Despite all the communication hiccups, I was grateful to be a part of this education community and am inspired to continue working with similar themes in the future. It is a unique experience to be in a space that welcomes an inclusive community of learners supported by care and interdisciplinary pedagogy.
