Wrapping Up

The last week of my leadership-in-action project is tasked with pitching our deliverables to MerTerre. We also listened and supported team Les Jardin d’Haiti’s pitch and ended our project with an Aperol Live event at Les Jardin d’Haiti. The whole team travelled back to Paris on Thursday and officially parted our ways on Friday, officially calling an end to this leadership-in-action project.

What Went Well?

The finalisation of our final deliverables and preparation of the final pitch went well despite facing the challenge of one of our team members being away and joining us virtually online. We pitched and presented our respective parts, and the presentation went well, with questions and constructive feedback received from both MerTerre and Makesense. In addition to our 3 benchmarking research sections and engagement proposals for MerTerre, we also reflected on our learning experiences and journey throughout the six weeks.

What could have been done differently?

If there is something that can be done differently, it would be to be more prepared for my pitch, as there was a lot of information to fit into a 20-minute pitch. As a result, much data and information were only briefly introduced, as well as some stuttering. This problem would be solved if I practised a few more times and wrote a more concise script for the presentation.

What did I learn about myself when working with others?

During the process of finalising our deliverables, I realised that the workload for a task of lower priority was out of my manageable range. Instead of keeping silent and taking it on like I used to, I chose to voice out my concerns. As a result, my teammate helped with the workload we got the work done perfectly. Through this event, I realised the importance of open communication that I have with my teammates, and teamwork truly makes the dream work.
