Second year medical student at the University of St Andrews with a love for learning, interdisciplinary study, and travel. Currently researching the effects of fetal opioid exposure on long-term neurodevelopment and behaviour.
Hi! I'm Leo and I study Civil Engineering at University College London.
My research project focused on integrating location-based datasets - one of the best ways to understand spatial matters and, thus, develop better decisions and policies. This is crucial to creating smarter and more sustainable cities, a topic I'm really interested in.
I am passionate about improving infrastructure and addressing inequality, particularly social-environmental sustainability in urbanism and transportation. I aim to continue working in this field and collaborating with NGOs, so feel free to reach out if our interests align!
I am a rising junior at Tufts University studying International Relations and Art History. I'm currently embarking on my first year as a Laidlaw research, which is about the cultural preservation of Hong Kong's dispersed diaspora. Excited to connect with so many international leaders on this platform! Please don't hesitate to reach out.
Hi! I'm Sandy, a junior at Tufts University double majoring in Biology and Community Health. My interests lie in nutrition, alleviating food insecurity, and improving maternal and child health. In my free time, I enjoy taking long strolls on the beach, binge-reading (huge R.F. Kuang fan), and listening to Laufey or Wave to Earth :)
If maternal and child health is something you're also interested in, or if you just want to connect, please reach out to me!! I'd love to get to know you too!
Hi! My name is Anh Ngo (she/her) and I am pursuing a degree in Child Studies & Human Development at Tufts University. My research project is on examining the correlation between psychopathological symptoms and voiding dysfunction in Autistic adults. Outside of academics, I enjoy awing at Ocean Vuong poems, rowing at the gym, graphic designing, and trying to break my annual Spotify listening time record.
Hi! I am a rising third-year in the College of Arts and Sciences majoring in neurobiology and minoring in science, technology, and international affairs. During my research summer, I will be using metagenomics to study the diversity and ecological role of viruses in Antarctic soil microbial communities with the Johnson Biosignatures Lab at Georgetown.
To give some context, metagenomics is a powerful bioinformatics sub-discipline that leverages genetic sequencing and data processing technologies to study microbial communities in their natural environments. Not only does this research allow us to better understand the ecological structure of environmental microbial ecosystems and how they play critical roles in cycling nutrients at a planetary scale, but studying microbial life can help us understand how life evolved on Earth in the first place. As we continue to overshoot planetary boundaries on Earth while simultaneously exploring deeper into outer space, these questions of how does our planetary system really work and what could such a living system look like on other planets become more and more important.
If you're interested in reaching out to talk about biology, any of my "hobbies," your research, or anything else, feel free!!
I'm a first year student at Columbia University studying Biochemistry.
Andrew Singleton has recently joined the Tufts-Laidlaw Undergraduate Research and Leadership Programme team as a Programme Administrator and is excited to continue to elevate the Laidlaw Programming for current and future scholars. He joined the programme from Venture Café, which connects and educates the entrepreneurial and innovation community in Boston through programs/spaces/events and many other cities around the world. He has a B.S. from MIT in Biology and a background in social-impact enterprises, wind-power, user-computer-interfaces, as well as computer network design. In his spare time, Andrew enjoys travel, hiking, and wildlife photography.
Hi! I am a sophomore at Cornell University pursuing an independent major of Interdisciplinary Studies (Education, Information Science, Psychology). Through Laidlaw, I am conducting research on the social-ecological impacts of Indonesia's capital relocation and am excited to explore the intersection between bioacoustics, Indigenous knowledge, and public education. Feel free to connect with me on here or on LinkedIn!
