This is such an important and powerful area of research. As a survivor of gender-based violence myself, a lot of what you wrote really resonated with me, especially the focus on long-term recovery rather than just crisis intervention. Returning to education after my own experiences had an enormous impact on my confidence, self-esteem, independence, and sense of identity, so I really connect with the idea that recovery is about much more than employment alone.
I also love the focus on communication, empowerment, peer support, and rebuilding confidence through practical skills and community. It’s so important that recovery is understood in a more holistic and trauma-informed way.
Your project actually connects closely with what I hope to do for my own Leadership in Action project through working with women’s refuges and domestic violence support services in Ireland. I’m really excited to follow your research and learn more from it over the summer!
