Such a beautiful decision to change the perspective. I also think that it is impossible understand anything fully on the surface without discovering and learning from the scars beneath. And the comfort of sharing a story of one's own scar, I feel, has something to do with making peace with the story around it. 'They want us to have good memories.' Just as you, I am proud to be part of this process of peacemaking, with the past, with the stories we share, and each other.
What a wonderful post! Apart from being reminded that I'm not alone in this Spanish journey, I also feel more a 'gringo' with no shame for being a 'gringo'. As for the communication with no words, I suggest becoming a Mediterranean 🤌🤌.
It is great reading your insights on the first week of the Medellin trip with make_sense. I believe Medellin is only the first step of a greater journey of constant learning and inspiration en Latin America. I'm looking forward to reading more.
