I am a Chartered Occupational Psychologist and the lead for the Laidlaw Scholars Leadership and Research Programme at The University of York.  Prior to joining the University of York, my career was in policing focusing on selection and assessment, leadership development, organisation change and culture, and diversity, equality and inclusion.  I completed my BSc Psychology course at The University of Manchester and went straight on to complete my MSc Occupational Psychology course at Northumbria University. I then completed the Qualification in Occupational Psychology (QOccPsych) with the British Psychological Society (BPS) to become a chartered Occupational Psychologist.

I study Mechatronics and Robotics at the University of Leeds. At the moment, I am advancing my skills in programming. I have lots of experience in electronics through hobby projects and working as part of a team for the Leeds robot fighting league. My research project is about AI for service robots.

Hi! I'm a second-year MSci Pscyhology undergraduate following the neuroscience and neuroimaging pathway. I'm passionate about cognitive neuroscience and essentially investigating how our behaviour is explained by our brain. My inquisitiveness motivates me to investigate further to find answers or improve my knowledge so a PhD and a career concerning research psychology appeals to me. I am an alumni of the University of York where I received a BA (Hons) degree in English Literature and Linguistics. I was the Arts and Humanities Subject Lead on the Laidlaw Scholar's Network and the 2020-22 Arts and Humanities Undergraduate rep at the University of York.  After graduating from York I went to the University of Oxford to read for an MPhil in Linguistics, Philology, and Phonetics. After 2 years of study at Oxford I work full time in a school and also work on the HEnabled podcast, which aims to showcase the experiences of people with disabilities and long-term health conditions within the British Higher Education system. I am a graduate of (BA) History of Art with Material Studies from University College London. My long-term research interests are on Philippine Studies, with a particular focus on all aspects of Filipino art history, culture, heritage and identities. I am also keen on studying about Filipino diaspora studies. The Laidlaw Scholarship has provided me with an opportunity for me to re-discover and explore my own cultural heritage. For my independent research project I spent my time in the Philippines, where I travelled around Manila and Ilocos Norte to connect with cultural advocators, social enterprises and local weavers to explore the current developments and insights into the future of Philippine textiles. My experiences as a Laidlaw Scholar has therefore encouraged me to further pursue a career in researching about the development of contemporary art in the Philippines, the survival of the traditional arts as well, and perhaps set up a creative cultural enterprise of my own that seeks to support grassroot collectives. I also have experience some experience in art conservation, cataloguing and archiving, given my time volunteering for UCL Special Collections as well becoming a Conservation Assistant at the renowned Hamilton Kerr Institute. I am also part of a committee of like-minded students who has set a leading example in promoting the Filipino culture and identity across the UK, in the form of an annual Festival. As the former Chief Operations Officer of FiliFest, and the current Head of Culture Team and part of Operations Team - I have great experience in project management. My experiences as a first-generation Filipino in the UK, and as a BAME student in London’s international university - I acknowledge some of the privileges and inequalities that one can encounter throughout their university experience. I am glad to have pursued the Laidlaw Scholarship - it has opened a lot of doors for my own personal development: for it has allowed me to embrace my own culture and make representing it my passion, advocacy and ambition.

I am a PhD researcher in Global Health at University College London. I am also a qualified pharmacist (MPharm and BSc Pharm) with an MSc degree in sociology. Hello! I'm Reuben, an Art History and Film student researching 'The Sonic Body: Technology, Embodiment, Gender' with the University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. I am also a student filmmaker and illustrator, and host 'The Theory of Everything Podcast' for StAR Radio.

My Laidlaw Research is set to explore World Cave art as an emotional and educational vehicle to decolonizing practices through the use of new technologies. Starting with a documentary pilot, I only hope to help shed more light onto conversations that are today more vital than ever, in such a beautiful yet maddening world unquestionably still lost in the dark. Currently chasing my childhood's 'American dream' with an enduring will, I am currently studying for a BA of Archaeology & Heritage at the University of York with the aim of pursuing a career in Museums in the United States. I previously worked professionally in the international film and television industry in Australia and France, including film productions as an independent filmmaker where I have focused on Australia’s colonial history. My ambition is to unite my creative side to a career in Heritage Archaeology to explore decolonizing practices in global context, and help blaze new trails towards a more inclusive future.

Hello, I am Miriam. I am an undergraduate Laidlaw Scholar studying at the University of York. I am interested in developmental psychology and especially Autism Spectrum Disorders. Most of my work experience is based around children with developmental disorders, but also adults with acquired brain injuries. I hope to be able to progress in my studies to complete a doctorate in Clinical Psychology, and my Laidlaw research project is in this field.
