Undertaking a leadership in Action Project for WORI (Women's Rights Initiative Uganda) researching de-colonialised methods for NGOs to develop international outreach. Hi everyone! My name is Areesha Imaan Siddiqui and I am a recent graduate of the University of Toronto. I've completed a double major in Psychology and Sociocultural Anthropology with a minor in French. I am now a student at Goldsmiths, University of London studying an MSc Marketing and Consumer Behaviour. My research examined homeless women in Toronto and the social and cultural processes as well as policies that affect how the women are re-integrated into society. I am a Singaporean French second-year biology student studying at the University of York hoping to specialise in medical biology. My research project looks into novel therapies for a neurodegenerative disorder which there are currently no treatments for, Huntington's disease. I am excited to embark on the Laidlaw Scholarship and to connect with as many young leaders in my field as I can.

Hello there! I am a Laidlaw Undergraduate Scholar studying Robotics and Mechatronics in the University of Leeds. My research topic is about developing a careers application for physics students to help them explore the range of careers and opportunities open to them from their course. I've been elected the Director of STEM for Women in Leadership Society. I'm also interested in robotics, coding, sustainability and biomimetics.
I am a neuroscience student in Trinity College Dublin. My research project is entitled "The Benefits of Exercise on the Brain: The Role of Inflammation". The objective of this research project is to analyse brain samples from sedentary and exercised aged mice to investigate if cognitive function is correlated with expression of inflammatory molecules in the brain. I am hoping the data garnered from this project will increase our understanding of how the brain deals with inflammation when in an optimal natural environment and that this knowledge can help with progression towards treating neurodegenerative diseases.
I graduated from UCL (BSc Economics) and LSE (MSc Economic History Research) and now a PhD student in economic and financial history at Queen’s Business School at Queen's University Belfast, funded by the Centre for Economics, Policy and History. My research focused on the financial crisis and institutions in Asian economies. I'm also interested in industrialization and inequality.
Hello! I am a Biological Sciences graduate from Durham University, having completed my Laidlaw Research and Leadership scholarship in 2022. I am currently studying for an MRes in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation Research at Imperial College London, Silwood Park.
My original Laidlaw project was slightly adapted, with it focusing on how African mammals and coral-reef fishes act as wildlife-based tourism (WBT) attractants.
In my free time, I enjoy bouldering, hiking, and anything nature-related!

I am interested in climate change and how it will affect our environment, in particular, the effects it will have on our oceans. In the future I hope to model and predict the changes that climate change will cause to aid the adaptation and mitigation required to combat this global problem. Currently, I am in my first year of my undergraduate degree studying Geoscience.
