LiA reflection (Week 3)
What went well?
This week, we continue to work on building the medical dispensary and participate in the Culture Course. The walls of the dispensary were basically done. In addition, I helped my family with dinner and made dessert (bread pudding) for them.
What could have been done differently?
Doing laundry is not easy in the village as sometimes there was water shortage or rainy weather. This week, I experienced running out of clean clothes. I think I could have planned my laundry schedule in advance and reserve sufficient buffer time for any contingency. In addition, I think I can show more appreciation to the hard work of the women teaching our culture course.
What did I learn about myself when working with others?
A good balance between work and rest is important to me.
What did I learn about leadership?
A leader should be able to make everyone on the team feel useful. He/she should also delegate jobs according to each team member’s capacity. For instance, it is important that each member has their own tasks to do in the build project so that everybody could feel that they are contributing.
What do I want to develop or focus on next?
I would like to learn how to cook Fijian dishes from my family.
