LiA reflection (Week 2)
What went well?
This week, we started the building project and participated in the Culture Course. Thanks to the hard work of the local workers and our teammates, we have finished the basic structure of the medical dispensary.
What could have been done differently?
The building project is very physically demanding. To minimize chances of muscle pain and injury, I should have done warm-up and cool down exercises before and after the build.
What did I learn about myself when working with others?
I am a hard-working and responsible person. I want to be working on site and sometimes don't really allow myself to take sufficient breaks. This puts me at the risk of pushing myself too hard.
What did I learn about leadership?
Being observant and analytical are important leadership traits. Several upsetting incidents happened this week. My teammates were able to pinpoint the problems and reflect to the leaders in a very systematic and persuasive way.
Leadership is also about proactiveness. Two of my teammates held a well-being night in the hope of introducing the concept of mental health to the village youth, who have little understanding on the topic.
What do I want to develop or focus on next?
I want to be proactive in inviting others to our house for lunch. I also want to be able to extend my conversation with others and be proactive in sharing my thoughts.
