Reflecting on my final week in Peru, it’s hard to believe how quickly the time has flown by. My experience with Casa Ronald Peru has been profoundly enriching, and as I close this chapter, I am filled with both pride and sadness.

Finalising the manual we created for the long-term implementation of the challenges system was a pivotal moment. The manual was a collaboration between Callysta and I with the volunteers in Casa Ronald, designed to ensure continuity and effectiveness in helping the children and their families. This gave me a sense of fulfillment knowing that our contributions will have a lasting impact.

Our farewell party was a bittersweet event. Hosting it allowed us to express our gratitude and share our experiences through various presentations on the solutions we had co-created over the weeks. It was heartwarming to see everyone come together, reflecting on the shared journey. The bonds we formed with the scholars, the volunteers, and the facilitators Pau and Jud are irreplaceable. Each person has left an impact in my heart, contributing to an environment of learning and growth.

Leaving Peru and the friends I’ve made here is undeniably difficult. The warmth and hospitality of everyone at Casa Ronald have made this experience truly special. The friendships forged here, both with fellow scholars and local volunteers, have been a cornerstone of my time in Peru. These connections have taught me the value of community, teamwork, and empathy.

From this experience, I’ve learned not only about leadership but also about resilience and compassion. Casa Ronald Peru has shown me the importance of support systems in times of need, and the incredible impact that dedicated individuals can have on others’ lives. As I return home, I carry with me slightly heavier bags with a few souvenirs from Cusco, as well as invaluable lessons and memories that will shape my future endeavors. This journey has been transformative, and I am deeply grateful for every moment spent in Peru.
