During my third week at Fundacion BAI, our team conducted testing at the Yucatan Youth fair in the center of the city where many of the municipalities are located. The population we served here were primarily between the ages 16 to 30s as the youth fair was organized by university students seeking to educate the community about the LGTBQ+ community. Given that this was my second time testing, I had gotten into the routine and was able to share an exchange with individuals without being afraid of accidentally harming a person’s finger or adding too much buffer to the test strip. Towards the end of the third week, my coworker and I represented Fundacion BAI at the club and non-profits fair at the medical school of the Autonomous University of Yucatan. At this event, we provided students with information on how to volunteer with the organization, tested their knowledge about HIV and HIV transmission, and played trivia where at the end all students could obtain their desired method of contraception. During this event, I had the opportunity to connect with medical students , learn about how the medical curriculum is structured in Mexican universities, and explore exchange opportunities.
