During my final week at Fundacion BAI, the student volunteers and I were placed to run campaigns at the hotels near the center of Merida, Yucatan. The hotel we attended had organized a health fair, bringing vision, medical, and wellness organizations to support their workers. Fundacion Bai was one of many organizations that was brought in to ensure hospitality workers were up to date with their yearly physical examinations. We tested approximately 20 individuals which was a smaller quantity than previous campaigns as many workers were hesitant to get tested or alarmed to have conversations about their potential window of exposure and type of exposure. One of the questions in the intake form for the HIV test asked for the aforementioned and several individuals opted to omit or took some time to provide an answer. After the final campaign, I continued to help our director compile the intake forms into our digital database and physical library.
