This week, to celebrate her birthday, we are featuring a quote from the well-known British actress, Helen Mirren.
Helen Mirren (1945-) is a British actress with numerous accolades for her work in films, television and theatre. Mirren was born in London and spent her youth in Essex, attending school there. She developed an early interest in acting a theatre, taking the lead in several school production throughout her teenage years.
Mirren's career has spanned nearly six decades, having begun her acting career with the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1965. Over this period, she has conquered the world of theatre, film and television. This is reflected in the many accolades she has received over the years. Mirren remains the only person to have achieved both the American (Academy Award, Tony Award, Primetime Emmy Award) and the British (BAFTA Film Award, BAFTA TV Award, Laurence Olivier Award) Triple Crowns of Acting.
In the Queen's 2003 Birthday Honours, Mirren was appointed Dame for her services to drama. She remains one of the highest-achieving British actresses in history.
