Hello! My name is Rie (she/her) and I'm a third year at the University of Toronto. I'm majoring in International Relations and Contemporary Asian Studies with a minor in Political Science. My research project for Summer 1 covers contemporary youth protest culture in Japan, investigating why Japanese youths are disengaged and apathetic towards politics. Feel free to message me if you're interested in chatting about research! Hello! I am Yuka Atsuchi. I am from Japan and studying Natural Sciences (Biosciences, Geography and Earth Sciences) at Durham University. My strong passion is to create a more sustainable environment for both humans and wildlife. I am specialising in environmental issues and climate change through interdisciplinary approaches in Natural Sciences with strong research and field skills from work experience.  My main focus in research and future aspiration is "empirical and effective implementation of rewilding conservation projects to various landscapes". For my first-year summer project, I am going to evaluate and create a plan for Durham University Wildland to initiate reintroduction projects. Then I would like to spread the knowledge and conservation practices to other countries such as Japan. About myself... I was bone in Japan and I lived in Yokohama until High School in Japan. After winning a scholarship from the Japanese Foundation, I started studying in the UK in sixth-form.  I am a big fun of wildlife and adventure to wider nature! Hello! I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Architecture at Cornell University. My home is Brooklyn, New York. I am interested in using architecture to tell stories and about people and place.

I graduated from UCL (BSc Economics) and LSE (MSc Economic History Research) and now a PhD student in economic and financial history at Queen’s Business School at Queen's University Belfast, funded by the Centre for Economics, Policy and History. My research focused on the financial crisis and institutions in Asian economies. I'm also interested in industrialization and inequality.

Midori was born in Tokyo, Japan and spent her elementary school years in New York and Boston before returning to Tokyo for middle and high school. She graduated from Columbia College, where she double majored in Biology and Medical Humanities through the Institute of Comparative Literature and Society. Midori was a member of the Veenstra-VanderWeele Lab at Columbia University Medical Center, researching autism spectrum disorder risk factors and their implications on brain and behavior using a mice model. On campus, Midori was president of CU STRIVE, supporting youth living with sickle cell disease through mentorship and advocacy. Midori spent the summer of 2019 in Bhutan, researching the perceptions and usage of biomedical, traditional (Sowa Rigpa), and local healing practices and their implications on healthcare. She spent the remainder of the summer as a research fellow of a predictive oncology lab at Marseilles Cancer Research Center in France. Her passion lies in addressing social determinants of health to achieve global health equity. Midori plans to use such experiences to inform her future practice as a physician who will work for international humanitarian organizations.
