About Katherine Ward
I am an incoming second year undergraduate at the University of Oxford studying Human Sciences. I have found my first year incredibly stimulating, from the degree content itself, volunteering in various extracurriculars and also trying new hobbies, ultimately learning more about myself than I thought possible in such a short time frame. I am so grateful for the opportunity to study my degree which covers science-based topics like genetics, evolution, ecology and physiology as well as the social sciences like human geography, demography, anthropology and sociology. I also was exposed to python coding during my statistics module! I believe this interdisciplinary background compliments my interests in the overlap between health and socioeconomic development well, and would love to get in touch with people interested in similar fields!
Outside of my studies I really enjoyed working with Oxford Refugee Health Initiative in a consultancy role to assess how they could better improve data collection (this was via a student-led project called From The Roots Up). I also am a keen athlete, recently taking up triathlon from a background of running, and just generally love exploring the outdoors!
