As the final days of my research project have come to an end, it has amazed me how much I have accomplished over these 6 weeks.
Week Overview:
This past week, I have reviewed my collected data and organized it into charts and graphs. I also worked on making and designing my research poster, which is now around 90% finished. One thing I have learned during the poster process, however, is that I can not put every little detail on it, no matter how interesting it is. In order to display all my work using as little of space as possible, I plan to include a QR code linked to my overall data spreadsheet so that viewers still have access to all of my results without cluttering my poster.
Future Plans:
I am still deciding if I also want to write a paper for my project. Over the next week, I hope to solidify my decision. I will also submit my poster draft to Colleen and my faculty mentor for review.
Accomplishments and Goals:
- Completed 4 weeks of testing for ChatGPT (I Inputted over 5000 prompts throughout the whole testing process!)
- Underwent and completed the Georgetown IRB Process
- Obtained more in-depth knowledge of the mechanics of ChatGPT and AI, languages, and gender bias
- Ex. How the war between Ukraine and Russia has affected each country’s gender inclusivity within its language
- Strengthened my skills in Google Sheets and coding
- Able to hold myself accountable and stay on track for my research project
Reflection
I am very grateful for being selected for Laidlaw, and I am very proud of my research and all that I accomplished. Thank you to the CRF and Colleen for running this program, and thank you to my fellow cohort members for making this summer memorable.
