Week 4:

What went well?

The Hub Summit in Missouri went very well. This was RSC’s first in-person gathering with all of their board members and hub partners since Covid. It was very joyous and collaborative. Everyone was very happy to be there. I really enjoyed getting to meet and learn from everyone.

What could have been done differently?

My trip to the summit took a while. I spent some long days in the airport, but I was able to get a lot of work done.

What did I learn about myself while working with others?

I learned the importance of being surrounded, in-person, by like-minded people. It was so refreshing to be in the same room with so many people who share my passion for advancing education equity and bringing opportunities to rural areas.

What did I learn about leadership?

I learned that leadership is facilitated by collaboration and meaningful connection to the communities you represent. Summit attendees kept reflecting on their interactions with RSC founder Gary Funk, often highlighting his genuine passion for supporting rural communities and willingness to collaborative with sometimes-unlikely allies.
