Week 2 LiA Reflection

Deepening our understanding of design thinking

As we embarked on the second week of our leadership-in-action journey, we deepened our understanding of the design thinking process, focusing specifically on prototyping and evaluating. Our team prototyped a poster to promote the waste management system in Huerto Roma Verde (HRV). We then received feedback from other teams. The evaluation process was invaluable for us to gain insights and decide what to maintain, change, or remove to improve our design.

Meeting Pierro – clarifying project direction

With uncertainty on our project direction, we had a meeting with Pierro this week for clarification. We gained further information regarding the Pacto con la Tierra project that we will be working on. Having a clearer idea of our deliverables, we started designing banners to introduce the 10Rs promoted by the project, encouraging behaviour at different levels to address the climate emergency and increasing children’s awareness of their role. We have also designed logos for each of the 10Rs to visually represent the concepts and make them more memorable for children’s understanding.

Visiting Las Sabinas

We visited Las Sabinas this weekend to learn about the organisation. It was a nice visit to acknowledge how Las Sabinas empowered women who were victimised, providing accompaniment and a safe space for them. What inspired me most was how the organisation developed a network of support for the women through the roller skating event. Through roller skating, participants experienced ups and downs. Yet regardless of the challenges or positive experiences they had, someone was by their side, acknowledging that they were not alone and they belonged. The visit stimulated my reflection on how we can create a world where everyone feels safe, respected, and can be their authentic self.

This week was surely a thoughtful one. I am excited to continue contributing towards meaningful solutions and gain further insights and growth.
