Learning about the experiences of some young people was touching and eye-opening. To hear some people not being able to walk anywhere because they have anxiety over being stopped and made fun of, or not being able to replace their bike that was stolen because there was no CCTV cameras in the area because of financial issues highlight the big issue that even though young people would be willing to engage in active travel, one of the biggest hindrances preventing them from doing so is their safety which is to not be compromised under any circumstances. Moreover, some of the young women we were speaking to reinforced the issue to do with the fear of walking alone, especially at night or even walking past a group of men. The fact that this story is consistent across most women goes to show that the issue is prevalent regardless of age. Furthermore, learning about some people's experiences like having to cycle to school everyday regardless of the weather due to the bus fare being too expensive show the necessity for active travel due to issues with cost.

The young people have shown enthusiasm to engage in active travel should it be made a better option for them. Thus, the least we can do is respond to their enthusiasm by improving their situation to make active travel more safer, accessible and enjoyable for the young people.
