Participating in the Oxford Ethical Leadership program has been an educational journey and a transformative experience that has shaped my understanding of ethical leadership and the responsibilities of a global citizen. The program has instilled a deeper appreciation for purpose, growth, love, integrity, wisdom, and the lifetime practice of leadership roles. It has also helped me understand the importance of character building and the qualities that enable us to take action for our community.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Dr. Corey Crossan and Anjali Sarker for leading the programme, from which I learned and got to practice and achieve character formation. The design of the contents, discussion session, reflection, and challenges, as well as the development of the app Virtuosity, which helps us track our practice and character growth.

There are a lot of takeaways from the session that I keep practicing and applying to my work and life. The Ikigai we use to cultivate purpose helps us construct a more objective and focused recognition of our life purpose and its relation with our career goals. The growth mindset that motivates us to find solutions and seek growth under challenges, becomes my key value, as I am deeply touched by the quote from Dr. Carol Dweck: “In a growth mindset, challenges are exciting rather than threatening. So rather than thinking, oh, I’m going to reveal my weakness, you say, wow, here’s a chance to grow.” The Oxford Ethical Leadership Programme provides me with a precious chance to grow and learn to overcome the challenges we face in forming our character. I also appreciate how storytelling can build up our self-awareness of our beliefs, values, and principles in a communicative way. It encourages me to practice integrity through thinking, expressing, and reflecting. More importantly, we can invite others to learn about our concerns, which is significant in building a mutually supportive connection and a sense of community.

Learning about the differentiation between deficient vice, excessive vice, and virtue also guides us to reflect on our decisions and actions in work and life and enhance our knowledge of ourselves in terms of the character we want to develop. The journey with Oxford Ethical Leadership Programme inspires us to know what matters to us and who we want to be and reflects our identity. It also provides theories and strategies for embracing the character into our lifetime practice through active reflection, habituation, and developing mutually accountable friendships.

As I move forward from this program, I am committed to continuing to act as a global citizen and lead ethically in all aspects of my life. This includes actively engaging with diverse perspectives, advocating for social justice and sustainability, and making decisions that prioritize the well-being of others and the planet. I will strive to uphold ethical principles in my personal and professional interactions, fostering a culture of diversity, equality, care, and respect.

I look forward to engaging in more projects related to different regions and cultures around the world, learning about different cultures and issues, and applying my leadership skills to support the local community. By staying true to my values and continuously reflecting on my actions, I aim to inspire others to embrace ethical leadership and be responsible global citizens. I will also be open to meeting more people and building connections, committing to the nourishment of a regenerative and mutually supportive community.

In conclusion, the Oxford Ethical Leadership program has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to develop our character leadership and support our actions. I am grateful for this learning experience and am excited to apply these principles in my future endeavors, striving to make a positive impact on the world as a global citizen and ethical leader.
